Hi Larry.
As a longtime player, fan and student of yours I gotta say, all our lives getting constantly better with the homeskoolin program..
however, I wonder who came up with the lick of Cascade park… it’s one of my favorites on the stereo record, and what a hook!!
Looking forward to the acoustic record
Hi Tom,
I thought of a good name for your cover band…The Groan Men. Love the progrum!
Any chance you would come up to the Music Emporium in MA? An Uncle Larry event would be great!
Best, Jason Antaya
Hey unc,
Here’s another for your old-school clam list. How about the glaring tempo change edit from a different take in Sweet home Alabama where the background chorus sings “hoo hoo hoo. Completely out of time with the previous bars.
Tom,
Do you remember what the neck pickup is in the Danocaster you sold to Guthrie Trapp? I know the bridge is a TE60, but do you remember which Peter Florance neck pickup is in it? Thanks!
Hey Tom, My name is Bob and I live in MN. My father grew up in Cleveland and he passed 15 yrs ago. I have a few Cleveland sports memorabilia items I think you might enjoy. A 1948 Indians World Series program with 2 tickets and a Cleveland Barons program. I Do Not wish to try and sell them online , just thought you would like them. My father Richard loved Cleveland and music and I think he would be happy to pass them on to a Clee-ve-Lander!!! Bob
thank you bro….thats a very sweet thought.
i am more of a football fan to be honest.
you should find a real baseball nut to give those to….very kind of you though
My husband is a longtime musician here in Alaska and has followed your work for years. Your musicianship and playing style have been a huge inspiration throughout his musical journey.
Now that we’re parents, he and our baby watch Homeskoolin’ together whenever a new episode comes out.
Since this is his first Father’s Day, I thought I’d take a chance and ask if there might be any possibility of a quick Father’s Day shout-out on a homeskoolin’ video?
Either way, thank you for all the music and lessons you’ve shared over the years!
Hey Larry! Gday from Toowoomba QLD Australia Just wanted to offer a tip on the nut lube situation… I used to use pencil like yourself, but it’s messy as fuck! I switched to using a dry grease stick. Its clear to white and is sold in a little paper wrapped stick at hardware stores sometimes called dri-lube solid lubricant. The one i have is made by Goss quality products. Give it a try and thanks for the awesome inspiration and music.. I can’t wait for the acoustic album to drop!! Cheers mate!
Hey Uncle Larry, just curious. I am heading to Nashville for business (odd that a 73 yr old still has business to attend to) in July. I will be staying at the Doubletree Downtown on 4th and I will be there on the nights of July 21, 22 and 23. Are there any decent music venues close to the Doubletree, or someplace I could walk to…or maybe take an UBER? I really know nothing about Nashville but if You (Tom) or someone that you really respect is playing nearby, I would like to catch it if possible. Obviously, if you were available that would be my preference but, good music is good music. Anyway…thanks for all that you do, and hope to, maybe one day, see ya around. Mike
Hey Uncle Larry. Just had a question for you. My name is Jamie and I’m the vocal instructor for the Army School of Music. I worked on a project with Craig Morgan last year recording some songs for suicide prevention for the military. I’ve been invited down next week for a rewrite and recording of a tune or two at sound stage studio with Craig and some others next week. The reason I’m reaching out is because I was curious if you’ve been hired on too. It would be amazing to meet you. Been watching you for years and regardless of who’s in studio I’d be stoked to hear you play live. If you aren’t in session, are you playing anywhere in town for the 19th/20th? I’d find a way to come out before heading back to Virginia. All my best and hope to catch you for a handshake at some time regardless.
Just finished watching Episode 622 “Kickstand Swing” with that beautiful old Guild, playing that Western swing-ish groove from the Fifties, and I’m wondering…you are so fluent in so many styles – how do you do it? Was it a conscious effort like a checklist? Or was it out of necessity to fill a role in a gig? It just continues to amaze me the breadth of your knowledge. Thanks for sharing your gift with us classmates.
thank you man…i always just wanted to learn how to sound TOTALLY authentic in any guitar style that i actually liked.
i can always tell when peoplev are jiving and faking
